Muscle relaxants and bruxism

Here at Dental Bruxism Supply we have been successfully treating patients with bruxism and their various symptoms for 10 years. We are now enjoying sharing our knowledge and expertise with progressive dentists, training them in the use of muscle relaxants to treat bruxism.

The muscle relaxant used is botulinum toxin injections – this toxin was recognised by Chistian Andreas in 1817 when he found that food borne botulism was due to a toxin that paralysed skeletal muscles and parasympathetic function. He further suggested that these toxins could be used to treat involuntary muscular spasms and movements.

Botulinum toxins have been used for over 20 years for medical indications including: spasticity, strabismus, urinary incontinence, blepharospasm, cervical dystonia, spasmodic dysphonia, hyperhidrosis and migraines. And is widely used for cosmetic indications where muscles create facial wrinkles and jaw muscles create facial widening. We are now supplying and training dentists to inject and relax the masseter and temporalis muscles for patients with bruxism.
